Red lights in the Milky Way could be evidence of alien civilisations | Metro News

Mysterious red lights have been spotted way out in the Milky Way and there's a chance some may have been produced by alien civilisations.

A team of astronomers has been poring over sightings of 'vanishing and appearing sources' of light seen since the 1950s.

These bizarre disappearing lights often resemble stars which spark brightly and are then snuffed out of existence.

Researchers analysed 150,000 observations and found 100 weird red lights which have now disappeared.

Aliens: Distant exoplanets may contain water sources - EconoTimes

Space agencies are continuously studying the entities that are beyond the Earth, including one of the biggest mysteries in space. A new report reveals that distant exoplanets may have sources of water.

The researchers found that the common factor all these exoplanets shared was water, however, the quantity of water in the planets were also limited. Cambridge Institute of Astronomy’s Dr. Nikku Madhusudhan stated that they have discovered the “first signs of chemical patterns in extra-terrestrial worlds.”

Europe is sending a robot to clean up space. Why is the junk there in the first place?

Our orbit is filled with garbage, including chunks of dead satellites, discarded rockets, and paint flecks that have fallen off them. The mission, named ClearSpace-1, will take the first step in tidying up this extraterrestrial wasteland, according to the European Space Agency (ESA).

A four-armed robot, developed by Swiss startup ClearSpace, will latch onto debris before diving back down to Earth, where both machine and junk will "burn up in the atmosphere," according to the ESA.

Survey Finds That Water Is Common Around Exoplanets

It's important to know about even the most remote presence of water elsewhere "[given] that water is a key ingredient to our notion of habitability on Earth," project leader Nikku Madhusudhan said in a press release ,

For their survey — results of which were published on Wednesday in The Astrophysical Journal Letters — the researchers gathered spectroscopic data on the 19 exoplanets using numerous telescopes, including Hubble and Chile's Very Large Telescope.
