They don't look like much of anything: fuzzy spheres floating through the sky, or giant Tic Tacs zooming above the sea. Their officially designated names are gibberish to most of us — FLIR, GIMBAL, GOFAST. They create more confusion than clarity.

The Defense Department said it uncorked the videos this week to dispel "any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos." Not a very helpful explanation, given that it seeks to quell a mile of speculation by giving an inch of information. The reason the government can't or won't say more may have to do with the risk of divulging secrets nestled deep within our country's aerospace skunkworks.

Some people in South Florida on Tuesday thought they saw a UFO, but it turned out to be a Navy missile test launch.
People posted photos and videos to social media showing a strange light with a tail, similar to a comet, flying across the sky. CBS News meteorologist Zach Covey tweeted it was a Trident-II ballistic missile being tested from a submarine.

T here are almost two dozen observatories dotted across Hawaii. The dry, thin air atop the volcanoes of the archipelago makes this an ideal place to gaze into the night sky. Over the past decade, the telescopes here have probed deep into neighbouring solar systems, transforming our understanding of the galaxy. Many used to think that Earth was an anomaly within a cosmic void.
Almost exactly three months later, an unusual object was spotted through the Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System, a network of telescopes 130km north-west of the observatory where Loeb had made his speech. The object was moving along a strange trajectory through the solar system. The U -shaped flight path that it took around the sun made it clear that it had, in fact, arrived from beyond the edge of our solar system.

MYSTERY WIRE — Space entrepreneur Robert Bigelow raised eyebrows and public interest when he made a provocative comment to the CBS news program 60 Minutes back in November 2017.
Bigelow told correspondent Lara Logan that aliens are already here on Earth, “right under people’s noses.”
