Even though the cost of a solar energy system has plummeted in the last decade, installing solar panels on your house still requires a significant upfront investment. After all, a home solar panel system costs roughly $16,000 to 20,000 without energy storage batteries.

There is a 26% solar tax credit available for solar systems installed in 2022 and a 22% tax credit for systems installed in 2023. Unfortunately, unless extended, the solar tax credit will be phased out entirely for residential solar systems in 2024 and beyond.

EarthSky | The Bortle survival limit for comets

Picture this. Astronomers discover a new long-period comet coming into the inner solar system. They calculate an orbit and learn the new comet will pass close to our sun, within the orbit of the innermost planet, Mercury.

Solar Gravity Telescope Could Directly Image Exoplanetary Atmospheres | Sci-News.com

In a new paper in the Astrophysical Journal , a duo of astronomers from the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology at Stanford University described a way to manipulate solar gravitational lensing to view extrasolar planets.

With the Moon obstructing the light from the Sun, scientists were able to see stars near the Sun offset from their known positions. This was unequivocal proof that gravity could bend light and the first observational evidence that Einstein's theory of relativity was correct.

A futuristic technique conceptualized by Stanford scientists could enable astronomical imaging far more advanced than any present today.

In the time since the first exoplanet was discovered in 1992, astronomers have detected more than 5,000 planets orbiting other stars. But when astronomers detect a new exoplanet, we don’t learn a lot about it: we know that it exists and a few features about it but the rest is a mystery.
