Imagine Jupiter and its little asteroids as cosmic Halloween decor on the solar system's front stoop.
Earlier this month, NASA launched a spacecraft named Lucy to admire this autumnal space display. Spacecraft have visited Jupiter before, but none has ever gone to inspect the planet's little asteroids up close.

An international team of scientists, using the ground-based Gemini Observatory telescope in Chile, is the first to directly measure the amount of both water and carbon monoxide in the atmosphere of a planet in another solar system roughly 340 light-years away.
A Mars Colony Could be a Hydrogen Factory, Providing Propellant for the Inner Solar System -
There are lots of potential uses for a Mars colony . It could be a research outpost, mining colony, or even a possible second home if something happens to go drastically wrong on our first one.
A new paper from Dr. Mikhail Shubov at the University of Massachusetts Lowell discussing just such an eventuality. Hydrogen is useful in myriad applications. From creating water to exploding as rocket fuel, the most abundant element in the universe sure has many uses.
ATLANTIC SKIES: Our Strange Solar System (Part 1): the odd planet | SaltWire
As with every family, there are always a few eccentric relatives who, one way or the other, just don't fit in, or who, for some unknown reason, march to the beat of a different drum.
Let's begin with Earth, our home planet, which, with justifiable prejudice, we consider the perfect planet.
A bright project: Infiniti Energy partners on Teaneck school district solar system | ROI-NJ
Solar developer Infiniti Energy said Wednesday that it completed construction on 905 kilowatts of new solar projects for the Teaneck board of education .
Infiniti was hired by Concord Management Services LLC , the engineering, procurement and construction provider, and the project was completed under a Solar Power Purchase Agreement that allowed the district to achieve the financial benefits of renewable energy immediately while eliminating
Jupiter's Great Red Spot — the biggest storm in the solar system — is deeper than expected -
Jupiter's Great Red Spot, a storm so big it could swallow Earth, extends surprisingly deep beneath the planet's cloud tops, scientists have reported.
Despite the storm shrinking, it still has a width of 16,000 kilometres and a depth of between 350 and 500 kilometres.

Proposed Centaur Mission Could Catch Comets in the Act of Formation
A recent plan would send a Centaur mission to Jupiter's orbit and follow a comet through formation.
From Mercury to the depths of the distant Kuiper Belt, there aren't many unexplored corners of the solar system out there. One class of object, however, remains to be visited: the transitional Centaurs out beyond the orbit of Jupiter.
