Hacked Google Cloud accounts were used by 86% of the "malicious actors" to mine crypto currencies, according to a new report .
Of the 50 hacked Google Cloud Platforms or GCPs, 86% of them were used for cryptocurrency mining, which typically consumes large amounts of computing resources and storage space, Google's Cybersecurity Action Team wrote in the report.

Hackers have already created malware in a bid to exploit an elevation of privilege vulnerability in Microsoft's Windows Installer.

Ahead of Thanksgiving this Thursday, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) and the FBI have released a warning for critical infrastructure providers to stay vigilant on holidays and weekends, because hackers don't plan on taking a holiday break.
The agencies said they had not identified any specific threats. However, they noted that some of the worst ransomware attacks happened on holidays and weekends, including Independence Day and the Mother's Day weekend.

A new malware campaign has been discovered targeting cryptocurrency, non-fungible token ( NFT ), and DeFi aficionados through Discord channels to deploy a crypter named "Babadeda" that's capable of bypassing antivirus solutions and stage a variety of attacks.
"[T]his malware installer has been used in a variety of recent campaigns to deliver information stealers, RATs, and even LockBit ransomware," Morphisec researchers said in a report published this week. The malware distribution attacks are said to have commenced in May 2021.
