Where to watch the meteor shower this week in Shasta, Siskiyou County

When rainclouds clear this weekend, look to the dark night sky for a different kind of shower over the North State.

The Quadrantid meteor shower is visible to the naked eye through Jan. 16 as Earth passes through a cloud of space debris.

What looks like meteors smacking Earth's atmosphere is actually our planet hitting the meteors. Meteor showers happen several times per year as Earth passes through debris fields left by comets as the planet cruises annually around the sun.

NASA Perseverance Mars Rover Has A Debris Obstructing Its Rock Sample Collection | 🔬 LatestLY

The Mars Perseverance Rover's sample collection has run into a trouble. NASA has said that the rover stopped caching samples after some pebble-sized debris created problems for the machine.

The obstacles are believed to be pebbles that fell out of the sample tube when dropping off the coring bit, preventing that bit from sitting neatly in the carousel. The storage is crucial for NASA's plans to eventually return the samples to Earth.
