Headlines:

Pop on your tin foil hat and head to New York, one of the best-rated places in the United States for spotting UFOs and their alien occupants.

When it comes to reported sightings, New York fell just behind Florida and Oregon, the nation's No. 3 and 4 UFO hot spots. Washington state snagged the No. 2 spot, while California earned the crown as the place where residents are most likely to end up in the path of a tractor beam.

The National UFO Reporting Center has been documenting and analyzing reports of UFO-related events across the world since 1974.

The center's database currently contains 6,150 reports of UFO sightings in New York state. The latest report — which detailed a silent disc hovering in the night sky — was made in New Paltz on March 11.

For those who want to believe, there are plenty of places to embrace out-of-this-world fun in Upstate New York.

Thompson Park, a historic Watertown park that features a zoo and tennis courts, is reportedly home to a paranormal vortex. Rumor has it that the Thompson Park Vortex , which boasts a sign dubbing it "Watertown's Area 51," can transport those who walk through the North Country park to another time and place before returning them to the present.

For travelers looking for a more grounded experience, a visit to the X-Files Preservation Collection — a Saratoga Springs museum that houses the largest collection of items from "The X-Files" TV show — might be a better bet.
