In his paper, Osmanov reveals detailed calculations about how it may be possible to spot these nano-robots.
And Osmanov says that they might look just like a comet a few miles across, appearing as infrared light.

Although Earth only has one moon , it does have other natural satellites, including asteroid 2016 HO3, known as a "co-orbital object." These tiny celestial objects could be an "attractive location for extraterrestrial intelligence," according to a new study.
The research suggests that these space rocks could be hiding grounds for an advanced civilization, given their small size and close proximity to the planet.

Seth Shostak is a senior astronomer at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, Calif. (SETI is short for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.) Researchers there are searching for intelligent aliens — ones that "can at least use a radio transmitter," Mr. Shostak said.
