Three missions that focus on the activities of our nearest star — Parker Solar Probe , the Solar and Terrestrial Relations Observatory ( STEREO ) and Solar Orbiter (a partnership with the European Space Agency) — have captured some incredible images showing several worlds in our solar system.
These spacecraft are flying in different areas of our neighborhood on a quest to understand solar phenomena such as the extreme heat of the sun's outer atmosphere, the distribution of dust in our solar system or the production of the solar wind — the constant stream of particles coming from our sun. But each spacecraft caught amazing views of planets that NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland shared in a recent press release .

Discovery Alert: Burning Questions for a Hot Super-Earth – Exoplanet Exploration: Planets Beyond
The discovery: This scorchingly hot " super-Earth ," more than 1 1/2 times as big around as our home planet, orbits a star very much like our Sun some 210 light-years away. It has a family of four sibling planets, all in tight, star-hugging orbits. But the embrace of HD 108236 b is the tightest, keeping this planet infernally hot.
Key facts: With a likely surface temperature of more than 1,500 Fahrenheit (825 Celsius), this planet has no chance of being habitable. The same is probably the case for the other four planets detected in this system, all possible " mini-Neptunes ," or gaseous worlds that are smaller versions of our Neptune. But scientists who study exoplanets – planets around other stars – are excited about this system nevertheless.
5 planets found in unusual rhythmic dance around a star 200 light-years away - CNN
(CNN) Astronomers have discovered a planetary system including six planets and it's not quite like anything they've seen before. The system could challenge the theories scientists have about how planets form and change over time.
Astronomers Find a Planet Like Jupiter, but It Doesn't Have any Clouds - Universe Today
Can you picture Jupiter without any observable clouds or haze? It isn’t easy since Jupiter’s latitudinal cloud bands and its Great Red Spot are iconic visual features in our Solar System. Those features are caused by upswelling and descending gas, mostly ammonia. After Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s cloud forms are probably the most recognizable feature in the Solar System.
Now astronomers with the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian (CfA) have found a planet similar in mass to Jupiter, but with a cloud-free atmosphere.

Understanding the rhythm and music of 5 alien planets - Axios
Five planets orbiting a star 200 light-years from Earth are locked in a strange dance that could help scientists learn more about how far-off worlds form.
The big picture: In recent years, researchers have found that nearly every star has at least one planet orbiting it. Now, astronomers are starting to learn more about those worlds, helping them piece together why the universe looks the way it does.
Details: The five outer planets of the star TOI-178 orbit in resonance with one another, meaning patterns emerge in their orbits, with some of the planets occasionally aligning. The closest planet to the star isn't in resonance with the others.
WASP-62b, the first Jupiter-like planet with no clouds or haze, has emerged
Swirls of clouds and haze on Jupiter and Saturn have become so iconic, that look has become a thing for all gas giants, to the point that you even see it on planet emojis. But you know what they say about stereotypes.
Exoplanet WASP-62b is a hot Jupiter that is also the first Jupiter-like planet to have no clouds or haze — at least in its upper atmosphere. It was found by the Wide Angle Search for Planets (WASP) survey, but never really paid attention to until now. There are few planets which have a perpetual forecast for clear skies. No cloudless planets like Jupiter, hot or not, have ever been known to exist before. The only other similar gas giant known to exist is hot Saturn WASP-96b .
School-Going Teenagers Discover Four Planets—One Super-Earth and Three Sub-Neptunes—Orbiting a
As youngsters, we are often told to dream big and aim for the stars. But two bright high-schoolers seem to have taken the phrase quite literally, as they aimed their sights at a nearby star and, in the process, discovered a brand new solar system consisting of four planets!
Earlier this week, 16-year-old Kartik Pinglé and 18-year-old Jasmine Wright co-authored a peer-reviewed research wherein they describe their discovery of four new exoplanets, located about 200-light-years away from the Earth.
