FBI warns US companies about Iranian hackers - CNNPolitics

Washington (CNN) Iranian hackers have searched cybercriminal websites for sensitive data stolen from American and foreign organizations that could be useful in future efforts to hack those organizations, the FBI said in an advisory sent to US companies obtained by CNN.

Hackers Targeted Apple Devices in Hong Kong for Widespread Attack | WIRED

Since at least late August, sophisticated hackers used flaws in macOS and iOS to install malware on Apple devices that visited Hong Kong–based media and pro-democracy websites.

The researchers emphasize that the malware delivered to targets through the watering hole attack was carefully crafted and "seems to be a product of extensive software engineering." It had a modular design, perhaps so different components could deploy at different times in a multistage attack.

CISA Director to Appoint Hackers to Cybersecurity Advisory Committee - Nextgov

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly will use her discretion to put members of the hacking community on a new federal advisory committee at the Department of Homeland Security.

Easterly spoke Wednesday at an event hosted by Wired and was addressing the unique way in which she reached out to the community at annual hacker conferences Black Hat and DEFCON shortly after starting in her role.

Screenshots reveal what extra information the Robinhood hackers accessed - The Verge

Motherboard says it got the screenshots from someone claiming to be affiliated with the hackers. Robinhood told The Verge that its investigation didn't reveal evidence that the hacker made any changes to accounts.

Robinhood announced the hack on Monday , saying that someone was able to socially engineer one of its support employees and gain access to some of the company's customer support tools.

Ransomware targeting school districts, including in Texas | wfaa.com

Judson School Superintendent Jeanette Ball says she will never forget the 4:30 a.m. phone call this past June.    

Her assistant superintendent of technology told Ball the school district had been attacked by ransomware.
