Jupiter may be the undisputed king of the planets in the solar system, but its record of 79 moons has just been smashed after the announcement of a stunning 20 new outer moons at Saturn.
Previously thought to have 62 moons, the discovery puts the ringed planet's new total at a peerless 82 moons.
Announced Monday by the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center, all 20 are outer moons about three miles/five kilometers in diameter.

'Galaxy of Horrors--' NASA Posters Highlight Spooky Alien Planets (Video) | Space
This Halloween season, NASA wants to open your eyes to the glorious spookiness all around us in the Milky Way galaxy.
The space agency has just released two new "Galaxy of Horrors" posters, which highlight a few of the most bizarre and inhospitable alien planets that scientists have discovered! What's the nearest solar system to our own? ...-own Of the solar systems discovered so far, the closest one is around the star named Epsilon Eridani , "just" 10.5 light years away (although that's still about 100 trillion kilometres!). This isn't the only answer though, as Epsilon Eridani has just one planet, so it's necessary to travel even further to find the nearest multiple planet solar system .!! And NASA created a fun 2-minute video, styled like a trailer for a 1950s horror movie, to promote the posters.

One of the featured worlds is HD 189733 b , a blue planet where winds whip sharp silicate-shard rain through the air at up to 5,400 mph (6,700 km/h).
"If human or robotic explorers could travel 63 light-years from Earth to get there, they would never survive this planetary hellscape," NASA officials wrote in a statement about the exotic exoplanet.
The other poster focuses on Poltergeist, Draugr and Phobetor, three planets that orbit the pulsar PSR B1257+12, which lies about 2,000 light-years from Earth. Pulsars are fast-spinning stellar corpses that emit beams of radiation from their poles; these beams appear to pulse because of the rotation, which gives pulsars their name.

As planetary systems evolve, gravitational interactions between planets can fling some of them into eccentric elliptical orbits around the host star, or even out of the system altogether. Smaller planets should be more susceptible to this gravitational scattering, yet many gas giant exoplanets have been observed with eccentric orbits very different from the roughly circular orbits of the planets in our own solar system.
Surprisingly, the planets with the highest masses tend to be those with the highest eccentricities, even though the inertia of a larger mass should make it harder to budge from its initial orbit. This counter-intuitive observation prompted astronomers at UC Santa Cruz to explore the evolution of planetary systems using computer simulations. Their results, reported in a paper published in Astrophysical Journal Letters , suggest a crucial role for a giant-impacts phase in the evolution of high-mass planetary systems, leading to collisional growth of multiple giant planets with close-in orbits.
