Working as the park safety supervisor for the St. Charles Park District, patrolling our public lands late into the night, Tim Timberlake has had plenty of close encounters. But only recently did he come across a bona fide UFO. Yep, an unidentified flying object, right above the parking lot at Norris Woods.
Well, maybe unidentified isn't quite the right word. Unbelievable is more like it. But the more Tim watched the small, shadowy form glide silently among the trees, the more he became certain of what he thought he was seeing. That's when he called the Naturalist Department for confirmation.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell just won reelection by nearly 20 points and could return to lead a Senate Republican Conference that's larger than most everyone expected in January. | Timothy D. Easley/AP Photo
HAPPY MONDAY MORNING. TODAY marks the beginning of the post- TRUMP era in American politics. To the extent that he still has political currency, it dwindles every day as Jan. 20, 2021 draws closer. Members of his own party are already suggesting his time is up. His staff is looking for new jobs. Markets are looking up, and analysts say it's because of the expected calm in U.S. politics. In the U.K.
Luciano: For Peoria, the election wasn’t the only weird thing that happened Tuesday - News
Still, you’d think news like this would’ve spread around town by now. Then again, we’ve all been totally caught up in this whole election thing, which has been just super-crazy, am I right?
So, with the rest of the world’s media hung up on ballot counts, only the Weekly World News bothered to follow the odd trajectory of an asteroid that not only pounded Peoria but ricocheted off several local landmarks before bounding and vanishing into space.
New documentary 'The Phenomenon' uncovers 70 years of UFO sightings in the United States -
A secret, parallel history of the United States stretches back at least 70 years, according to director James Fox and writer Marc Barasch.
In their new documentary “The Phenomenon,” released on streaming services today, they aim to reveal that history, step by step, and build the case that it is time for that history to be known and taken seriously.
The secret? Years of government cover-ups of the UFO phenomenon, its implications for national security and for our understanding of our place in the universe.

US Navy releases reports detailing encounters with UFOs - Business Insider
Eight incident reports released this week by the US Navy have revealed new details about a series of encounters between Navy pilots and unidentified flying objects (UFOs) off the US east coast.
Each of the eight incidents occurred in a patch of airspace off the coasts of Virginia and North Carolina, with all but one occurring between 2013 and 2014. The reports refer to the UFOs as "unidentified aerial devices."
In one March 26, 2014 report, a pilot described seeing a "metallic object," which was "small in size, approximately the size of a suitcase, and silver in color."
First UFOs, now Bigfoot.
BOISE ( Idaho Statesman ) — Last month, Idaho was named the top spot in the United States for sightings of unidentified flying objects . But it turns out UFOs aren't the only paranormal entity being spotted in the Gem State.
According to an analysis by satelliteinternet.com, Idaho is one of the top places for Bigfoot sightings in the country. The company last month researched UFO sightings to try to determine if satellite internet equipment was being mistaken for UFOs. (It frequently is.) Last week, satelliteinternet.com released a similar rating – this time for Sasquatch sightings.
US Pentagon's UFO Unit to reveal odd, unexplained aerial vehicle sightings by navy intelligence
Despite Pentagon statements that it disbanded a once-covert program to investigate unidentified flying objects, the effort remains underway — renamed and tucked inside the Office of Naval Intelligence, where officials continue to study mystifying encounters between military pilots and unidentified aerial vehicles.
Pentagon officials will not discuss the program, which is not classified but deals with classified matters. Yet it appeared last month in a Senate committee report outlining spending on the nation's intelligence agencies for the coming year. The report said the program, the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force, was "to standardize collection and reporting" on sightings of unexplained aerial vehicles, and was to report at least some of its findings to the public every six months.
