UFO sighting sparks new questions

GRANDS RAPIDS, Mich. — The Pentagon has confirmed the authenticity of newly leaked video and images showing multiple UFO sighting by U.S. Navy personnel, as the government prepares to release a highly anticipated first of its kind report on UFOs this summer.

According to the Nation UFO reporting center, sightings in New York alone have doubled in the last year. The U.S. government is set to release their report in June.

The U.S. military takes UFOs seriously. Why doesn't Silicon Valley or academia?

In the long term, there could be multiple Nobel prizes, not to mention new laws of physics, for those who are willing to dive in and risk ridicule in the short term.

In February, for instance, one of the biggest innovators of this century, Elon Musk, was asked what he thought about the recent Pentagon acknowledgment that Navy pilots have seen objects flying in our airspace using advanced technology we can't identify, let alone understand or explain or reproduce. Musk's answer was, "Honestly, I think I would know if there were aliens," and, honestly, this response could have come from any number of prominent scientists or industry figures.

Dazzling Skies, U.F.O.

This weekend, listen to a collection of narrated articles from around The New York Times, read aloud by the reporters who wrote the story.

At around 9 o'clock on the night of March 25, the sky above Brooke Jarvis's house in Seattle lit up with an astonishing display. "It looked like the world's largest and longest-lasting firework, or a huge shower of comets hitting all at once," Brooke wrote.

Photos on UFO websites were shot by Navy personnel, Pentagon says | Military | unionleader.com

Photos and video of unidentified objects in the sky published on two websites dedicated to reports about UFOs and the paranormal were shot by Navy personnel, the Pentagon said.

While the Defense Department's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force has included the images in its continuing examinations, DOD spokeswoman Susan Gough said she can only confirm that they were shot by Navy personnel. She would not comment on what the images show.

The photos published on the "Mystery Wire" website include a white object in an otherwise cloudless sky that, when enlarged, looks like a sphere. Another, when enlarged, looks like a purplish downward-pointing arrowhead or acorn. Yet another is jellybean shaped with a metallic sheen.

AKRON, Ohio — A strange, dark, dome-shaped object had motorists scratching their heads on the highway in Akron on Sunday afternoon.

The unidentified nonflying object quickly made the rounds on social media. The 330ToGo Facebook page posted a photo it received after the large metallic object apparently got stuck rounding a bend on I-76 in a close encounter of the curved kind.

The state highway patrol says the driver informed them it's not a UFO, it's an industrial furnace ladle.

A driver jumping a drawbridge, a mama bear and her cubs stopping traffic and a confirmed UFO sighting are just some of the shots that captured our attention this week. Take a look below at this week in video.

Daytona Beach police in Florida say a driver smashed through a traffic arm in front of the Main Street bridge Monday and crossed as the drawbridge was opening.

Cameras show the driver of an SUV, heading east toward the beachside, blowing through signals and the traffic arms that were in the down position.
