Hackers targeting and stealing billions from Iranian citizens in texting scheme | TheHill

Financially motivated hackers likely based in Iran are successfully targeting and stealing billions in currency from Iranian civilians through a texting campaign, new research released Wednesday found.

Israeli-American cybersecurity company Check Point Research found evidence that tens of thousands of Iranians had been targeted in the scheme, which involved the hackers sending texts to Android users that impersonated branches of the Iranian government.

Panasonic confirms data breach after hackers access internal network – TechCrunch

Japanese tech giant Panasonic has confirmed a data breach after hackers gained access to its internal network.

Panasonic said in a press release dated November 26 that its network was "illegally accessed by a third party" on November 11 and that "some data on a file server had been accessed during the intrusion.

Will Hackers ruin Halo Infinite, like they did with Warzone? - Inven Global

Halo Infinite has been out for a couple of weeks now, and the core gameplay has received a very positive reception. However, like with most free-to-play titles, the game is already experiencing some serious issues with hackers, especially in ranked play.

If Halo Infinite doesn't take proactive measures to prevent hackers from taking over their game, they risk experiencing the same fate as Warzone, a game whose integrity has been shattered by a constant stream of cheaters since its release.

Hackers could steal encrypted data now and crack it with quantum computers later, warn analysts |

Beijing-backed hackers might soon start trying to steal encrypted data -- such as biometric info, the identities of covert spies, and weapons designs -- with a view to decrypting it with a future quantum computer, according to analysts at US tech consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH).

Hackers Using Compromised Google Cloud Accounts to Mine Cryptocurrency

Energy hackers give a glimpse of a postpandemic future | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of

After going virtual in 2020, the MIT EnergyHack was back on campus last weekend in a brand-new hybrid format that saw teams participate both in person and virtually from across the globe.

This year's event was supported by a host of energy partners both in industry and within MIT.

Hackers had 36 hours to come up with a solution to one challenge, and teams then presented these solutions in a short pitch to a judging panel. Finalists from each challenge progressed to the final judging round to pitch against each other in pursuit of three grand prizes.

Cyberattack on Butler college part of growing trend; experts urge vigilance to thwart hackers |

Organizations that keep sensitive information in their computer systems can’t do much to avoid being targeted by cyberattackers.

A cyberattack on Butler County Community College’s computer system forced the campus to shut down Monday and Tuesday. It is part of a growing number of incidents in which hackers lock down a computer system and demand payment, using a process known as “ransomware.”

Halo Infinite has a hacking problem and players are paying the price | Windows Central

Halo Infinite multiplayer is already off to a strong start, drawing millions with its free-to-play offerings, now available on Xbox consoles and PC. Unfortunately, as common with any multiplayer game on PC, it was bound to get its fair share of hackers, especially as a free experience.

According to numerous reports on Reddit and Twitter, some players are not regularly encountering hackers across its multiplayer on Xbox and PC. Players have taken online to share their experiences with hackers in the game.
