See three planets, two stars and the moon share the night sky on April 9 2022 | Space

Look up at the sky before sunrise Saturday (April 9) to see a trio of planets, twin stars and the moon entering its next phase.

The planets Venus, Mars and Saturn appear close together in the southeast predawn sky. Saturn moved steadily toward Mars, reaching its closest proximity on Tuesday, April 5, when the planets were only half a degree apart.

Dwarf planets: What are the five dwarf planets in the solar system?

If you know anything about the Pluto demotion controversy of 2006, you probably know that the former ninth planet of the solar system is now a lowly dwarf planet.

" A dwarf planet may also orbit in a zone that has many other objects in it," the IAU added. "For example, an orbit within the asteroid belt is in a zone with lots of other objects."

The Difference Between Personal and Generational Planets | Well+Good

Shifting signs every three to four weeks, Mercury is the planet of communication, intellectuality, travel, and thought processes. Your Mercury sign rules over how you communicate and, per Jay, “almost literally, sometimes, the way you speak.

“Jupiter is like your sense of hope, optimism, philosophy, [and] your ability to sort of see the bigger picture,” says Jay.

Meet The 'Solar System Space Telescope:' Why NASA Needs To Build A 'New Hubble' To Keep An Eye On ...

Since then the school bus-sized 'scope has cruised around Earth at 17,000 mph making observations of the distant nebulae, galaxies and, just occasionally, objects in own Solar System.

Either way there could soon be no "eye on the sky" capable of sending us images of the planets, comet, asteroids—and making new discoveries.

Jupiter-Neptune Conjunction In Pisces 2022, Explained

On April 12, the great planets Jupiter and Neptune converge in Pisces , blasting open a gateway to dreams…or a hellmouth of dissociation. Though Jupiter and Neptune come together every 13 years, this is their first reunion in their shared home sign of Pisces, since 1856.

Neptune is an outer planet, which means that it orbits the sun at a far slower crawl than more personal planets, like Mercury or Venus. It takes Neptune approximately 14 years to move through a single sign, and 165 years to make a full revolution through the zodiac.

Heliocentrism: Definition, origin and model | Space

Following the theory of heliocentrism, today we know that Earth, and the other planets of the solar system, are all in orbit around the sun. However, it was once believed that Earth was at the center of what was thought to be the entire universe, and everything revolved around us– literally.

The James Webb Telescope will help unlock the evolution of habitable worlds

The alignment of the James Webb Space Telescope's near-infrared instruments entered its "chilling" stage of the Mid-InraRed Instrument (MIRI) — where it will continue to become colder until its temperature drops to less than 7 kelvins (-447 degrees Fahrenheit).

"In the first year of science operations, we expect Webb to write entirely new chapters in the history of our origins — the formation of stars and planets," said Webb Project Scientist Klaus Pontoppidan of the Space Telescope Science Institute, in a press release  from NASA's Goddard ...

Perihelion: The sun up close | Space

Orbits of natural bodies in the universe are usually not perfectly circular — they are elliptical.

The sun doesn't sit idly in the center of these ellipses at equal distance from their farthest points. It actually follows its own tiny elliptical orbit around what is called the center of gravity (the barycenter) of the system, the sun and the orbiting planets.
