Space Travel Is Taking Off, But Companies Also Want To Sell Things From Outer Space : NPR

Who owns the moon? Space travel is getting easier and cheaper and now companies and NASA are trying to establish a market for things from outer space.

The laws around buying extraterrestrial land or resources are pretty nebulous, and for a long time this was a moot point. Almost nobody went to space, much less did business there. And that's changing.

KUOW - 'How down are you' with space travel?

Okereke is a University of Washington graduate who — like any number of children who have looked up at the stars and dreamed of floating among them — wanted to be an astronaut as a child.

A few months ago, he came as close as so-called "citizen astronauts" get these days — at least, as close as citizen astronauts who aren't billionaires get.

She hopes to change what people think an astronaut looks like - The Washington Post

That question sits at the top of the Instagram page that Lisa Alcindor, an aspiring astronaut, created.

Is it a man or a woman? Is it someone who is tall or short? It is a person who seems more comfortable sitting in a lab or dancing at a party?

Whatever image a person conjures, it probably doesn't match the one that a quick downward scroll of the page reveals. The photos of Alcindor show a young, striking Black woman whose long lashes reach toward the front of that helmet when she has it on.

Elon Musk mocks Jeff Bezos amid legal battle over space plans

Elon Musk mocked Jeff Bezos on Twitter Friday, accusing him of having stepped down as Amazon CEO in order to spend his time filing lawsuits against Musk's company SpaceX.

The jab comes after Bezos' Blue Origin space firm sued NASA earlier this month over the agency's decision to give a $2.9 billion moon lander contract to SpaceX .

Space Travel: What It Takes for a Safe Journey to Mars

Staying in space for months or years has its consequences: muscle dwindles, radiation damages cells and Weightlessness should hit the brain . This is the long journey to Mars Not good conditions .

The journey to Mars takes about nine months: it takes about a year and a half there and back. If one considers a research stay of several months on our neighbour, the expedition must still be below the time limit that Shprits and Co calculated for a relatively safe voyage.
