Robots use fear to fight invasive fish -- ScienceDaily

The invasive mosquitofish ( Gambusia holbrooki ) chews off the tails of freshwater fishes and tadpoles, leaving the native animals to perish while dining on other fishes' and amphibians' eggs.

To fight the invasive fish, the international team, composed of biologists and engineers from Australia, the U.S., and Italy, turned to its natural predator -- the largemouth bass ( Micropterus salmoides ) -- for inspiration.

Imagine you're running a race. To complete it, your body needs to be strong, and your brain needs to keep track of the route, control your pace, and prevent you from tripping.

These soft robots could one day clean up the seas, powered by light and water

Researchers at UC Riverside have developed a light-powered soft robot that can swim along the water's surface, powered by sunlight. 

They envision their robotic strip as eventually being able to sop up oil and other contaminants, cruising around perpetually and keeping things clean — especially useful for pollution spills in remote locations where sending ships and human crews is costly and difficult.

North Fayette shapes custom robots - The Citizen

The Dolphins love showing off their creativity. To showcase their knowledge of shapes, North Fayette Elementary kindergarteners crafted their very own robots.

The yearly class project builds on their study of shapes, both solid and flat. Students are allowed to be as creative as they like in the creation of their robot, and they are built at home to support the family engagement component of learning.
