‘The robots are coming’: Calgary researchers working on rescue robots for disasters ...

It could be a character on a Saturday morning kids show, but this rescue robot is anything but fantasy.

“It’s not science fiction. It’s science and this thing exists,” said Alejandro Ramirez-Serrano at the unmanned vehicles robotarium lab at the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary.

Kids attend a NASA summer camp, build robots

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -On the second floor of an old brick building next to Reno's Discovery Museum a group of young kids are huddle over a pile of brightly colored plastic pieces.

It might look like a group of kids playing with Legos--and--in a way it is. They are having fun, but they're also learning and in the next two days, they'll be learning a lot more. They're attending the first-of-its-kind NASA Astro Summer Camp at the Tesla Robotics Center.

Love, Pot Stickers, and Robots in Santa Barbara - The Santa Barbara Independent

I scoffed, of course, though I love me some robot movies. So, I'm intrigued. And the crazy claim happened to coincide with my curiosity about the Meet Up place, a new Chinese lunch and dinner spot in the little strip mall that time forgot near the corner of Modoc and Las Positas.

When I finally investigated, it looked not high-tech enough, but pleasant. I ordered from a very kind and friendly human, and just about the time the appetizers should arrive, I heard a rumbling coming toward me. Yikes.

UCLA Scientists Can Print Robots in One Go - 3Dnatives

On several occasions, additive manufacturing has been used to build robots , in part because of the design freedom it offers. However, in most cases, robots are printed in several parts before being assembled once all the parts have been designed.

Capable of crawling, jumping and sensing the elements around them, the UCLA robots are able to evolve in their immediate environment.

Robotic lightning bugs take flight | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Fireflies that light up dusky backyards on warm summer evenings use their luminescence for communication — to attract a mate, ward off predators, or lure prey.

These glimmering bugs also sparked the inspiration of scientists at MIT. Taking a cue from nature, they built electroluminescent soft artificial muscles for flying, insect-scale robots. The tiny artificial muscles that control the robots' wings emit colored light during flight.

UFC's Michael Bisping told robots to 'f-ck off' after being asked to wear a mask in Singapore - ...

The former UFC middleweight champion turned podcast host and commentator said he was "accosted" by robots during his recent trip to Singapore for the UFC 275 pay-per-view.

Bisping told the robots to "f-ck off" after being asked to wear a mask while he was eating breakfast at a hotel. The robots hilariously accosted him because he wasn't wearing a mask indoors, which is mandatory in Singapore.
