Clasiopa hackers use new Atharvan malware in targeted attacks

Security researchers have observed a hacking group targeting companies in the materials research sector with a unique toolset that includes a custom remote access trojan (RAT) called Atharvan.

Although there is no strong data to indicate a particular initial infection vector, Symantec researchers found hints suggesting that Clasiopa uses brute force to gain access to public facing servers.

Hydrochasma hackers target medical research labs, shipping firms

A previously unknown threat actor named Hydrochasma has been targeting shipping and medical laboratories involved in COVID-19 vaccine development and treatments.

The hackers's goal appears to be stealing intelligence and their activity has been tracked since last October by threat hunters at Symantec, a Broadcom company.

Hackers use fake ChatGPT apps to push Windows, Android malware

Threat actors are exploiting the popularity of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot to distribute malware for Windows and Android, or direct unsuspecting vitims to phishing pages.

ChatGPT gained immense traction since its launch in November 2022, becoming the most rapidly growing consumer application in modern history with more then100 million users by January 2023.
