SpaceX prepares to launch another batch of Starlink satellites into orbit

This new set of 60 satellites is scheduled to launch from Kennedy Space Center launch pad 39-A Sunday and the launch window opens at 9:22 a.m.

The satellites will be placed in orbit about 15 minutes after launch. Falcon 9 rocket hopes to land safely on the drone ship over the Atlantic Ocean called "Of Course, I still love you."

NASA Space Station On-Orbit Status 11 March 2020 - Bone and Heart Cells Research - SpaceRef

Bone cells and now heart cells are on the space research agenda for the Expedition 62 crew. The International Space Station continues gearing up for more space investigations recently delivered aboard the SpaceX Dragon resupply ship.

NASA Flight Engineer Jessica Meir turned her attention today to a new experiment exploring cardiac activity in microgravity. She tended to heart cells swapping media that nourishes the samples being observed and manipulated with magnetic sensors. The results could inform measures to keep astronauts healthy on long-term missions and possibly treat heart conditions on Earth.

A Map Of The Coronavirus Exposures In Trump's Orbit In Just Two Weeks

BuzzFeed News has mapped these connections using social media and news articles. It's by no means comprehensive. What it shows is how fast the virus has spread among people in Trump's orbit in approximately two weeks of the US outbreak. Close aides and family members have come in contact with people who are confirmed to have the virus.

After declaring the outbreak a national state of emergency on Friday, Trump said he might get tested but would not self-isolate . He then proceeded to shake many people's hands , which health officials have recommended against to prevent possibly spreading the virus. Trump has previously said he has had little to no contact with any infected individuals, despite at least one photo of him standing directly next to a known infected person.

The Expedition 62 crew took a break today from its weeks-long space biology research aboard the International Space Station.

Research takes place not only inside the space station, but also outside as scientists study how extreme temperatures and space radiation affect a variety of materials. NASA Flight Engineer Andrew Morgan configured hardware today containing a materials science experiment for installation outside the orbital lab. He placed the gear inside the Kibo laboratory module's airlock where it was depressurized.

Assure Space won't cover collision risk in low Earth orbit - SpaceNews.com

WASHINGTON – Since the beginning of the year, space insurance underwriter Assure Space is no longer offering policies covering collision risk for satellites operating in low Earth orbit, Richard Parker, Assure Space managing director, said at the Satellite 2020 conference.

Assure Space continues to insure launches, satellites operating in geostationary orbit, satellites raising their orbit through low Earth orbit and missions to the international space station.

Astronomers Just Found The First Ever Exoplanet That Swoops Outside The Galactic Plane

To date, we humans have positively identified over 4,000 exoplanets in the Milky Way galaxy. And, to date, all of those exoplanets have something in common: they're located in the relatively flat disc of the galactic plane, the thin disc.

Now, a little over a year and a half after it started scanning the sky for alien worlds, NASA's planet-hunting space telescope TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) has identified a new first: an exoplanet orbiting a star that swoops as far as 5,870 light-years above the galactic plane.

Space Force Needs to Prepare for a New Cold War in Earth's Orbit | Digital Trends

"The bottom line," said retired three-star general Chris Bogdan, "is that we want to learn how to fight in space. Just as we know how to fight on air, land, sea, and, in some respects, in cyberspace. Space is a new warfighting domain. Our job is to try and help the Department of Defense to become space warfighters."

Right now, Chris Bogdan is worried about satellites. But not for the same reason that many people are. Recently, satellites have gotten a bum rap. Astronomers have sounded the alarm regarding the plan of individuals like Elon Musk to launch enormous, sky-blotting mega-constellations of satellites . Bogdan doesn't seem to be so tied up in knots about extra stuff being shot into space, however. Instead, he's far more concerned about the stuff that's already in space being shot down.
