A New Planet Has Been Found Orbiting The Closest Star To Our Sun Say Scientists

This artist's impression shows a close-up view of Proxima d, a planet candidate recently found ... [+] orbiting the red dwarf star Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Solar System. The planet is believed to be rocky and to have a mass about a quarter that of Earth.

Astronomers have found another planet is the next star system along. Called "Proxima d," it's the third planet found orbiting Proxima Centauri, a red dwarf star just 4.24 light-years from the Sun.

Where to spot the full moon, planets, and the ISS this week | CBS 17

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Sky gazers: get your cameras ready because it should be a nice week to look up!

The moon rose at 4:58 Tuesday evening and by the time you wake up Wednesday morning, it will be nearly full.

The full Snow Moon gets its name from the heavy snow that can fall during this month. That is also the reason this moon is sometimes called the full Hunger Moon, because the cold, snowy weather made hunting difficult.

EarthSky | Mercury and Saturn from the Southern Hemisphere, early March 2022

Each morning Mercury brightens as it drops closer to the eastern horizon. On March 3, Saturn and Mercury are side by side, or in conjunction , and less than one degree apart. If you hold your pinky out at arm’s length, both the planets can hide behind it.

After Saturn and Mercury’s close pairing on the 3rd, Mercury drops closer and closer to the sun, getting lost to observers around March 18. Meanwhile, Saturn climbs upward so that soon even the rest of us in the Northern Hemisphere can see it.

Space Architecture: Challenges of Designing Blueprints for Other Planets | MarketScreener

Green for the floor, blue and yellow for the walls, and brown for the ceiling. In the 1960s, Russian space architect Galina Balashova devised a color system to make areas in spaceships more pleasant and eliminate a common problem among astronauts: disorientation.

Throughout her career, Balashova designed and supervised the interiors of various spacecraft that left our planet and made history. Today, more than half a century later, architects continue to play a key role in the space race .

He watched the Soviet Union fall. Now he studies planets at ASU - The Arizona State Press

In 1991, the Soviet Union was on its final leg. A military coup threatened to overthrow Mikhail Gorbachev's government and tanks rolled down the streets of Moscow as protesters erected barricades at the Russian parliament building.

Zolotov, a research professor at ASU, studied geochemistry in the Soviet Union during the 1980s and early '90s before joining the University where he has taught classes and conducted research for spacecraft that will explore Jupiter's moon Europa and Venus.
