UNH’s Space Science Center will lead a $250 million space mission after being selected by NASA, the university announced on Friday. The budget for this mission is the university's largest to date, according to the announcement .
Researchers will be charged with preparing nine spacecraft and managing the team of scientists that will study how the sun impacts the environment in space, information the university said will eventually help protect astronauts and satellite technology.
Preparing to Take Flight | Science Mission Directorate
Conducting research in space is a complex endeavor: applying for funding, working with engineers to develop hardware, preparing and operating the experiment in space, analyzing data, and more.
Since training for spaceflight experiments isn't something you typically learn in school, it's critical that professional scientists leverage the experience of colleagues and mentors.
The James Webb Space Telescope's first images have scientists excited (and a bit relieved) | Space
The James Webb Space Telescope has captured its first grainy images of a distant star and mission scientists are, to put it mildly, ecstatic.
Today (Feb. 11), NASA unveiled the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope , which has identified starlight for the first time using its NIRCam instrument (which is essentially a camera that also helps to keep the primary mirror's segments aligned).

It's been a year since China's first-ever independent interplanetary mission reached Mars, and in that time, Tianwen 1 has made major achievements while also delivering a number of surprises.
The Tianwen 1 spacecraft entered orbit around the Red Planet on Feb. 10, 2021. Shortly after, the China National Space Administration released epic footage of the event, showing the orbiter pass behind Mars as it fired engines to slow down and enter orbit.
What happened at the Arecibo Observatory? New inquiry launched into iconic telescope's collapse.
It's been more than a year since scientists lost one of the most iconic telescopes ever built — and yet the collapse of the famed Arecibo Observatory remains something of a mystery.
Nestled into the jungle of Puerto Rico, the Arecibo Observatory 's jewel was its vast radio dish, spanning 1,000 feet (305 meters) across and famous for its appearances in movies such as "Contact" and James Bond's "GoldenEye." But six decades after the telescope came online, on Dec.
