UNH in space: Scientists chosen by NASA to lead $250 million HelioSwarm mission – New

UNH’s Space Science Center will lead a $250 million space mission after being selected by NASA, the university announced on Friday. The budget for this mission is the university's largest to date, according to the announcement .

Researchers will be charged with preparing nine spacecraft and managing the team of scientists that will study how the sun impacts the environment in space, information the university said will eventually help protect astronauts and satellite technology.

SpaceX's new Starship video animation is Tron meets Blade Runner in space | Space

A stunning SpaceX animation released Thursday (Feb. 10) shows the Starship system on a future voyage to Mars.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk released the five-minute video during the program's first major update since 2019.

The new video shows what such a voyage could look like, with dramatic lighting and musical effects that feel very similar to the futuristic visions that the franchises "Blade Runner" and "Tron" have showed moviegoers over the decades.

China's Tianwen 1 Mars mission marks 1st full year in orbit | Space

It's been a year since China's first-ever independent interplanetary mission reached Mars, and in that time, Tianwen 1 has made major achievements while also delivering a number of surprises.

The Tianwen 1 spacecraft entered orbit around the Red Planet on Feb. 10, 2021. Shortly after, the China National Space Administration released epic footage of the event, showing the orbiter pass behind Mars as it fired engines to slow down and enter orbit.
