Whoosh confirms data breach after hackers sell 7.2M user records
The Russian scooter-sharing service Whoosh has confirmed a data breach after hackers started to sell a database containing the details of 7.2 million customers on a hacking forum.
Whoosh is Russia's leading urban mobility service platform, operating in 40 cities with over 75,000 scooters.
Russian Hackers Claim Cyber Attack On FBI Website
This week, pro-Russian hackers claimed responsibility for what they said was an attack on a section of the FBI 's website, the newest addition to a recent string of purported attacks on U.S. government websites from Russian-aligned hackers.
When Newsweek accessed the FBI site Monday morning, there did not appear to be any functional issues.
Chinese hackers target government agencies and defense orgs
A cyberespionage threat actor tracked as Billbug (a.k.a. Thrip, Lotus Blossom, Spring Dragon) has been running a campaign targeting a certificate authority, government agencies, and defense organizations in several countries in Asia.
The most recent attacks were observed since at least March but the actor has been operating stealthily for more than a decade and it is believed to be a state-sponsored group working for China.

The hackers responsible for a cyber attack against Australian health insurer Medibank have been identified by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) as being associated with Russia.
The breach, which was initially identified on October 13, saw 200GB of data stolen, 9.7 million people affected and the private medical details for a significant number of people distributed on the dark web .
Researchers Say China State-backed Hackers Breached a Digital Certificate Authority
A suspected Chinese state-sponsored actor breached a digital certificate authority as well as government and defense agencies located in different countries in Asia as part of an ongoing campaign since at least March 2022.
Billbug , also called Bronze Elgin, Lotus Blossom, Lotus Panda, Spring Dragon , and Thrip , is an advanced persistent threat (APT) group that is believed to operate on behalf of Chinese interests. Primary targets include government and military organizations in South East Asia.

Hackers try to sell Continental data after cyberattack | Automotive News Europe
BERLIN -- Continental said it was investigating the theft of company data in a cyberattack but declined to comment on media reports that hackers had put the information up for sale.
Handelsblatt said the hackers had put the data up for sale for $50 million after Continental "apparently did not want to pay a ransom."
