Intelligent Ways to Search for Extraterrestrials | The New Yorker

The laws of physics suggest no reason why this plan wouldn't work; they merely require that all the energy collected be radiated out again as heat, lest the whole construction melt. This, in turn, means that your cloud of platforms should softly glow. A distant observer training a telescope on your solar system might see something like a hot, opaque screen encircling a dimmed star—a spherical entity, curiously bright at certain wavelengths.

The theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson first speculated about the existence of such structures in 1960. In the decades since, astronomers on Earth have looked repeatedly for so-called Dyson spheres, and nobody has seen one. There are different ways of interpreting this result! Suppose you're a space-faring alien society. You've established colonies on a few planets and moons in your solar system, but your population is growing and you're running out of space. What should you do?!! Jason Wright, an astrophysicist at Pennsylvania State University, told me that Dyson wrote his original paper while contemplating an abstract idea—that "the fundamental limit to an energy supply that a species could have is all of the starlight in their system." The fact that Dyson spheres haven't been found, Wright said, doesn't prove that aliens don't exist! Intelligent Content vs Intelligent Search Engines ...become- intelligent - ...15 Search engines are already intelligent . In fact, one of the reasons that people need to get their own content more intelligent in a hurry is to keep up with the possibilities of modern SERPs. A tiny fraction of companies in the world (the ones you might see presenting case studies at the Intelligent Content Conference) are ahead of what engines are doing, but the mass market is still in the dark ages.!! It might just mean that astronomers should start looking for evidence of less ambitious alien projects.

Newsworthy Extraterrestrials | SETI Institute

Today, September 20, is the date on which people keen to "see them aliens" were urged to break through the fences of Area 51, a closed military test facility in the southern Nevada desert! Bing launches new intelligent search features, powered by ...blogs.bing.com/ search /2017-12/ search ...Bing launches new intelligent search features, powered by AI. Today we announced new Intelligent Search features for Bing, powered by AI, to give you answers faster, give you more comprehensive and complete information, and enable you to interact more naturally with your search engine .!! Several million folk responded positively to an internet posting calling on them to storm the site and find the little gray guys.

In the end, the storm turned out to be only a squall: Despite the enthusiastic initial response to the internet story, 999 out of 1,000 who raised their hand decided they had more pressing matters on their plate! Intelligent applications from Microsoft www.microsoft.com /en-us/AI/ intelligent -apps Intelligent search Bing is using advances in artificial intelligence to make it even easier to find what you're looking for. Bing understands the web so it can give you quick, well-rounded answers even when your questions are nuanced. Bing also lets you search within an image so you can find what you see.!! There's also the discouraging lack of credible evidence for aliens salted away inside.

But also of note this week is the story that the Navy has "confirmed" the videos made by its pilots in 2004 and 2015 showing what look like oddly shaped craft pacing some of their jets. These are the now-famous tic-tac videos, first brought to the attention of the public with a front-page story in the New York Times in mid-December, 2017. For many in the so-called UFO community, this admission may sound as if the government is confessing to having good evidence for alien visitation.

Near-Earth objects could be used by extraterrestrials 'to watch our world,' stunning

Although Earth only has one moon , it does have other natural satellites, including asteroid 2016 HO3, known as a "co-orbital object." These tiny celestial objects could be an "attractive location for extraterrestrial intelligence," according to a new study.

The research suggests that these space rocks could be hiding grounds for an advanced civilization, given their small size and close proximity to the planet.

"These near-Earth objects provide an ideal way to watch our world from a secure natural object," the study's abstract reads . "That provides resources an ETI [extraterrestrial intelligence] might need: materials, a firm anchor, and concealment. These have been little studied by astronomy and not at all by the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) or planetary radar observations."

The two closest stars to Earth are Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, which are approximately 4.3 light-years from Earth. A light-year, which measures distance in space, equals 6 trillion miles.

How to Cool a Planet With Extraterrestrial Dust - The New York Times

Extraterrestrial events — the collision of faraway black holes, a comet slamming into Jupiter — evoke wonder on Earth but rarely a sense of local urgency. By and large, what happens in outer space stays in outer space.

A study published Wednesday in Science Advances offered a compelling exception to that rule. A team of researchers led by Birger Schmitz, a nuclear physicist at Lund University in Sweden, found that a distant, ancient asteroid collision generated enough dust to cause an ice age long ago on Earth. The study lends new insight to ongoing efforts to address climate change.

Earth is frequently exposed to extraterrestrial matter; 40,000 tons of the stuff settle on the planet every year, enough to fill 1,000 tractor-trailers. But 466 million years ago, a 93-mile-wide asteroid collided with an unknown, fast-moving object between Mars and Jupiter. The crash increased the amount of dust arriving on Earth for the next two million years by a factor of 10,000. Dr. Schmitz, Dr. Heck and their team found that the dust triggered cooling in Earth's atmosphere that led to an ice age.
