As part of Project Artemis , NASA intends to send the first woman and the next man to the Moon by 2024, in what will be the first crewed mission to the lunar since the Apollo Era. By the end of the decade, NASA also hopes to have all the infrastructure in place to create a program for “ sustainable lunar exploration ,” which will include the Lunar Gateway (a habitat in orbit) and the Artemis Base Camp (a habitat on the surface).
Part of this commitment entails the recovery and use of resources that are harvested locally, including regolith to create building materials and ice to create everything from drinking water to rocket fuel. To this end, NASA has asked its commercial partners to collect samples of lunar soil or rocks as part of a proof-of-concept demonstration of how they will scout and harvest natural resources and conduct commercial operations on the Moon.

2020 Halloween full moon: This year's spooky spectacle brings a rare twist - CNET
While this year's Halloween full moon will be visible in all parts of the globe, that doesn't mean every single citizen will have a view. Residents across both North America and South America will see it, as will India, all of Europe and much of Asia. But while Western Australians will see it, those in the central and eastern parts of the country will not.
Know time zones well? "Every time zone has it except those east of (GMT) +8 time zones if they have daylight time, or (GMT) +9 with no daylight time," Hunt says.
Watching the Skies: New moon, stargazing opportunities | WOODTV.com
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new moon will occur this week, which means, of course, that we won’t be able to see the moon. Even though the moon won’t be visible, the lack of moonlight will lead to ideal stargazing conditions.
The new moon will occur at 7 a.m. on Thursday. On Friday, try your luck to spot the very thin crescent of the young moon. It will likely be difficult to spot on Friday but will become easier to see as it gets larger the following evenings. Look west around where the sun has set to try and see the moon.

September 2020's New Moon in Virgo - How It Affects Your Zodiac Sign
The official start of fall is just around the corner, and it’s starting to feel like it’s finally time to pack away your beach towel and focus on what’s next. RIP, summer—you will be missed.
First, some astronomy basics: The moon has different phases, and a new moon happens when Earth lines up with the sun. That makes the moon look pretty much invisible from the earth. There are usually 12 new moons a year, and each new moon is synched up with a different astrological sign.
Here's why the sun looks more like the moon at sunrise and sunset in N.J. - nj.com
Smoke from the wildfires that have devastated the West Coast have reached New Jersey and made for a hazy, strange sunset on Monday and sunrise on Tuesday.
Though the smoke can't be smelled in the Garden State because it's too high in the atmosphere, the sun appears considerably dimmer and almost resembles the moon.
"As the fire continues to burn, the smoke from the fire rises into the atmosphere and gets caught up in the jet stream flow bringing it across the country — that's why we're seeing the smoke," Dean Iovino, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Mount Holly said by phone Tuesday. "And it does cut back on the brightness of the sun."
A season of new moon supermoons begins September 17 - pennlive.com
It will be followed by 2 more new moon supermoons, one on Friday, October 16, and the final one of 2020 on Sunday, November 15.
A new moon occurs about once each month when the Moon aligns with the Sun between Earth and the Sun with the side of the Moon that is not illuminated facing Earth.
The Moon becomes a new moon supermoon when that first phase of the lunar cycle coincides with the Moon making its closest approach to Earth, a point known as the perigee of the Moon's orbit around Earth.
A Greek Architect's Designs for the Moon | GreekReporter.com
Determined to become a fixed star rather than a passing comet in his domain, young Greek architect and engineer Angelos Chrysovalantis Alfatzis has made a significant contribution to the study of materials for building habitable constructions in space, while working as part of a European research team.
Currently completing his compulsory military service in the Greek Army, the graduate in both Applied Arts and Architectural Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens saw his wildest dreams launch into orbit when he applied for a trainee position at the European Space Agency in 2019.
