Pentagon to launch task force to investigate UFO sightings - Insider

"The Department of Defense established the UAPTF to improve its understanding of, and gain insight into, the nature and origins of UAPs," the DoD said in a release. "The mission of the task force is to detect, analyze, and catalog UAPs that could potentially pose a threat to US national security."

"The Department of Defense and the military departments take any incursions by unauthorized aircraft into our training ranges or designated airspace very seriously and examine each report," the DoD added. "This includes examinations of incursions that are initially reported as UAP when the observer cannot immediately identify what he or she is observing."

Quite a lot has been going on:

Free VPNs are a privacy nightmare. You shouldn't download them | WIRED UK

When you connect to a VPN, an encrypted tunnel is created between your computer and an endpoint server, giving you a new IP address – potentially in another country – and ensuring that your internet traffic can't be deciphered by your ISP or the administrator of your local network. But many free VPNs don't work as they're supposed to, leaking data and even actively spying on their users.

"The three biggest threats when it comes to free VPN mobile apps are data harvesting; incomplete protection; and corner-cutting in development that potentially leads to vulnerabilities," says Simon Migliano, head of research at Top10VPN.com.

'Space guests': Russian cosmonaut shares video showing 5 possible UFOs | Watch

New Delhi | Jagran Trending Desk:  For hundreds of years, one question that has been frequently asked by the mankind is "are we alone in the universe" as humanity so far has not been able to establish contact with an advanced race. However, there have been several reports of people spotting Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), leading to speculations that there are several advanced civilisations in the cosmos.

Recently, a Russian cosmonaut on International Space Station (ISS) spotted as many as five UFOs moving over the Earth's southern hemisphere. The cosmonaut – Ivan Vagner – also captured the video of the five UFOs, forcing UFO enthusiasts to once again raise the same question – "are we alone in the universe?"

Senators want public to see Pentagon UFO reports, citing "inconsistent"

In December 2017, the Pentagon acknowledged funding a secret multi-million dollar program to investigate sightings of UFOs, although it said it had ended in 2012. The New York Times reported at the time, however, that it was still up and running.

The Senate's focus on the program stems less out of a concern over extraterrestrials, and more from the threat posed by real-world U.S. adversaries, such as China.

The U.S. is particularly worried about China's espionage capabilities, including use of drones and other aerial technology.

In case you are keeping track:

Thinking It Through: ‘We were all skeptics’ regarding UFOs - Opinion -

In recent months, the Department of Defense has released videos of “paranormal” (aka UFO) sightings on airplane pilots’ radar, most recently last month.

This is a remarkable turnaround as such phenomena have for years been written off by officialdom as questionable and unverifiable, to say the least. Put me down as one has always taken such reports with far less than a grain of salt.

The Year of UFOs | Space | Air & Space Magazine

For most of a generation—from 1987 to 2015—media coverage of unidentified flying objects measurably declined. In the past couple of years, though, television, newspapers, and social media have made mysterious aerial sightings and the possibility of visitors from outer space big news again. Why the sudden resurgence?

A handful of events helped drive the new interest. Although unrelated, these events have been mutually reinforcing; that is, stories written about any one of them typically mention the others, leaving the impression that they add up to a single, developing narrative.
