On Mars you will find immense dust storms that cover the entire planet, while Venus has an incredibly thick and fast-moving atmosphere that can form permanent vortices at its poles. On Jupiter and Saturn there are some huge storms — bigger than the diameter of multiple Earths — that have raged for decades or even centuries. On the ice giant Neptune you'll find the fastest winds in the solar system, and within Neptune and Uranus it may rain diamonds .

Volcanoes on Earth are amazing, but our planet isn't the only world where lava has flowed. From Jupiter's moon Io, the most volcanic place in the solar system, to Olympus Mons on Mars, check out 10 amazing volcanoes in the planets and moons of the star system we call home.

Top 10: Tallest mountains in the Solar System - BBC Science Focus Magazine
Here's a question for you: what's the tallest mountain on Earth? Although most people might say Nepal's Mount Everest, you could also answer Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa in Hawaii. With 4.2km of their heights submerged underwater, these twin volcanoes actually measure a whole 10.2km top-to-bottom – taller than Mount Everest's 4.6km.
But here's the thing: all of these mountains are tiny compared to the rest of the Solar System. In fact, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa don't even make it into the top 10 tallest mountains in the Solar System (measured from base to highest point). Instead, that list looks like this:
Going the Distance… In Space. One of 5 Space Craft Beyond Our Solar System. | WOWK
(WOWK/NASA) – On April 17, NASA's New Horizons crossed a rare deep-space milestone – 50 astronomical units from the Sun, or 50 times farther from the Sun than Earth is. New Horizons is just the fifth spacecraft to reach this great distance, following the legendary Voyagers 1 and 2 and Pioneers 10 and 11.
To celebrate reaching 50 AU, the New Horizons team compiled a list of 50 facts about the mission. Here are just a few of them; you'll find the full collection at: http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/News-Center/Fifty-Facts.php .
Jupiter and Saturn to be visible this week: How to see the giants of the solar system | Science |
Over the coming days, the solar system's two largest planets will be visible from Earth. Both Jupiter - dubbed the 'King of the Solar System' - and the ringed-planet Saturn will be appear in the night's sky. The Moon will sweep past the two planets, which will be relatively easy to see.
The bright object above and slightly to the left of the lunar satellite will be the jewel of the solar system, Saturn.
Dark-Matter Storm is Speeding Toward Our Solar System (Weekend Feature) | The Daily Galaxy

A strange dark-matter phenomenon is speeding towards the Sun at speeds of 500 kilometers per second according to a 2018 study led by theoretical physicist Ciaran O'Hare from the University of Zaragoza in Spain. Billions of years ago, a dwarf galaxy was shred apart by the extreme tidal forces of our larger Milky Way Galaxy. The remnant galaxy now forms a stream, called S1, that arcs around the halo of our Galaxy.

Lone Mercury Likely Survived Multiple Mantle-Stripping Impacts
Inner four solar system planets (Elements of this image furnished by NASA- earthmap ... [+] http://visibleearth.nasa.gov)
Mercury, our solar system's planetary runt of the litter, has long been a puzzle. It's twenty times smaller than Earth and fifteen times smaller than Venus. And in terms of diameter, it is actually even smaller than the largest moon in the solar system, Jupiter's Ganymede.
With an estimated 70 to 80 percent of its mass concentrated in its iron-core, Mercury's main puzzle is arguably why it cuts such a lone swath in our inner solar system.
Solar 101: Working the angles to maximize your solar system's output – pv magazine
As a case study, the town of Normal, Illinois, shows how a roof's latitude, pitch, and azimuth can affect energy output.
In the first articles of our “Solar 101” series, ( Is my roof ready for solar? ) and ( Attaching your solar system to your roof ) we discussed how the age and physical characteristics of a roof can affect the design and payback of a prospective solar system. We considered weather concerns and panel setbacks to estimate the number of solar panels that will fit on a roof.
NASA solar probe becomes fastest object ever built as it 'touches the sun' - CNET
Those are some strong records to hold and this isn't the end, either. Parker should break its own record later in the year when it uses another Venus flyby to slingshot closer to the sun. Perihelion is expected to occur on Nov. 21.
