Planets encounter cosmic rays mostly from two distinct sources. One source is the planet's star, which produces stellar cosmic rays: Stars spew out high-energy particles, primarily protons and the nuclei of helium atoms, through the flares and coronal mass ejections that also feed stellar winds . (Although they come from the same source, a stellar cosmic ray has a million times the energy of a stellar wind particle and is much rarer.
"The shape and irregularities of the solar magnetic field determine how particles travel in the solar system," said Donna Rodgers-Lee , lead author of the study and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Dublin. Solar particles are shoved, pushed, and thrown around by magnetic fields as they move away from the Sun. Galactic particles, on the other hand, need to overcome the push of the solar wind as they move in proximity to the Sun.

China mulls sending spacecraft to edge of solar system: scientist - SHINE News
Chinese scientists are evaluating the feasibility of a project to send spacecraft to the edge of the solar system, said Wu Weiren, chief designer of China's lunar exploration program.
According to the project, the Chinese spacecraft will cover a distance about 100 times than that between the sun and Earth by 2049, when the People's Republic of China celebrates its 100th founding anniversary, Wu said in a recent interview with industry newspaper China Space News.

The tides of Jupiter can help scientists understand the history of the Solar System
Jupiter isn't much like Earth — which makes Caltech grad student Benjamin Idini' s research into its tides all the more interesting. There are no waves to ride for would-be Jovian surfers.
"If you were to try and dive into Jupiter , you would never stop," Idini tells Inverse. "You would just keep falling in until the pressure is so big that it would probably crush you."
In a study published in The Planetary Science Journal, Idini and colleagues took a look at the effects Jupiter's 79 moons might have on our solar system's largest planet, and compared it to the effects we see between the Earth and Moon. As a gas giant, Jupiter lacks the solid core of rocky planets like Earth and Venus, and is made of liquid metallic hydrogen under extreme pressure.
TEP brings new renewable energy solar system online this month - AZPM
Tucson Electric Power has brought the solar storage facility southeast of Tucson online with plans later this month to start delivering power from a wind farm in New Mexico.
By adding these two energy systems, the Wilmot Energy Center and Oso Grande Wind project , about 26% of TEP's power will be from renewable sources. Spokesperson Joseph Barrios said over the next 14 years TEP wants to bump that number up to 70%.
"What we've seen over the last few years is the cost of solar energy just get lower and lower, which has allowed us to invest in those cleaner resources instead of fossil fuels."
