The State Department announced on Thursday that it was offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identity and location of five individuals believed to be tied to the Conti ransomware group.
The agency accused the hackers, known by their online aliases as "Target," "Reshaev," "Professor," "Tramp," and "Dandis," of participating in malicious cyber activities against U.S. critical infrastructure.

Advanced, which provides digital services like patient check-in and NHS 111, says it may take three to four weeks to fully recover.
The NHS insists that disruption is minimal, but Advanced would not say whether NHS data had been stolen.
The Birmingham-based firm says it first spotted the hack at 07:00 BST on 4 August and immediately took steps to contain the hackers. It is now working to restore services.

The new findings come from Palo Alto Networks' Unit 42 threat intelligence team, which is tracking the double extortion ransomware group under the constellation-themed moniker Tropical Scorpius .
Cuba ransomware (aka COLDDRAW ), which was first detected in December 2019, reemerged on the threat landscape in November 2021 and has been attributed to attacks against 60 entities in five critical infrastructure sectors, amassing at least $43.9 million in ransom payments.

Hackers Breach Cisco and Steal Data, But Fail to Deploy Ransomware | PCMag
Cisco has revealed (Opens in a new window) that it was hacked by a group affiliated with several well-known criminal groups, including Lapsus$ , UNC2447, and the Yanluowang ransomware gang.
The company's threat intelligence group, Cisco Talos, says it "became aware of a potential compromise" on May 24. It responded to the potential breach alongside the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and confirmed the company had indeed been hacked.
Hackers are still using these old security flaws in Microsoft Office.
Cyber criminals are exploiting security vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office which have been known about for years to infect PCs with malware in attacks which demonstrate the importance of applying cybersecurity updates.
Both vulnerabilities are almost five years old, but the fact they're being used to distribute SmokeLoader demonstrates that they're still effective.
