As science and technology advance, we’re asking our space missions to deliver more and more results. NASA’s MSL Curiosity and Perseverance rovers illustrate this fact. Perseverance is an exceptionally exquisite assemblage of technologies.
Space exploration is an increasingly energy-hungry endeavour. Orbiters and fly-by missions can perform their tasks using solar power, at least as far out as Jupiter. And ion drives can take spacecraft to more distant regions.
How to make your home solar system smarter and reduce power bills
Soaring electricity prices have made 15% of Aussies think about installing solar panels, a recent survey found. Another 6% were already weighing up the move, on top of the 28% who had panels.
With costs falling, the average system size is growing rapidly. Households now typically install 8-10kW solar systems, often with a battery – roof area often limits the system's size.
Nuclear-powered robots could hunt for aliens on icy Solar System moons
In the coming years , NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) will send two robotic missions to explore Jupiter's icy moon Europa. These are none other than NASA's Europa Clipper and the ESA's Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE), which will launch in 2024, and 2023 (respectively).
The list of Ocean Worlds is long and varied, ranging from Ceres in the Main Asteroid Belt, the moons of Jupiter (Callisto, Ganymede, and Europa), Saturn (Titan, Enceladus, and Dione), Neptune's largest moon (Triton), and Pluto and other bodies in the Kuiper Belt.
How to see the newly discovered green Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) - The Washington Post
Fifty-thousand years ago, the Sahara Desert was wet and fertile. The Stone Age in Africa was just beginning, and the world's first sewing needle was invented. It was also the most recent time that Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) swung past Earth.
The long-forgotten comet has recently returned to Earth's night skies, appearing as a faint eraser-smudge that some have even spotted with the naked eye in the darkest areas. Catching a glimpse of it won't be easy, but considering it's your last (and first) shot, it may be worth a try.
The Sky is Back! | Edhat
Thanks for all these nice tips!
Such great viewings!
And occultations are always, spectacular, riveting and rare to be seen. It is nice not to miss one (especially the second one in just a few months). So thanks for the reminder!
Since this comet is really being hyped lately, be aware that it won't be showing the greenish color visually, just in photographs. Even at its brightest, it will only be visible as a small smudge with averted vision from a dark site. Don't expect a spectacle, and you won't be disappointed.
Octopus Energy & Enphase Bring Virtual Power Plant Technology To Texas - CleanTechnica
The governor blamed renewables, but in truth it was the failure of ERCOT to anticipate such a weather event that prevented the wind turbines the are such a frequent sight in Texas from being able to withstand freezing temperatures.

A Flying Boat Could One Day Explore Titan, Saturn's Weirdest Moon - CNET
Imagine a craft that could soar through the hazy skies on one of the most bizarre worlds in our solar system -- Saturn's moon Titan -- followed by an easy landing on its flammable seas made of liquid methane and other hydrocarbons.
The NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts, aka NIAC, program announced its latest round of phase one project grants, providing $175,000 for early-stage studies of proposed technology that could support future NASA missions.
Small Flashes on Sun's Corona Can Help Predict Solar Flares | Weather.com
The Sun has routinely been spewing out solar flares and coronal mass ejections lately, and space weather projections for 2023 indicate that this year will be more eventful for the star of our solar system.
Solar flares are basically explosions on the Sun that happen when energy stored in twisted magnetic fields, usually above sunspots, gets released all of a sudden. Flares produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x- and gamma-rays.
Catholic astronomers: Newly discovered planet a testament to Earth's 'startling uniqueness' | ...
Catholic scientists from the Vatican Observatory and Benedictine College hailed the discovery of the planet, named TOI 700 e, as "exciting" and a testament "to the marvels of God's creation."
TOI 700 e is rocky, 95% the size of Earth, and within the distance from its sun where liquid water could occur, according to a Jan. 10 NASA press release.
