With space exploration travelling further than ever before and celestial vacations on the horizon, a rudimentary trademarks framework for Earth's orbit, the moon and Mars is no longer light years away.

2019 could be remembered as one of widening participation in spaceflight, with milestones achieved by more countries, more private companies, and by women, capping a decade of capitalist adventurers taking over much of the space industry from government.

Remember when the "Space Race" was the U.S. vs. Russia? That hasn't been the case for several years, but 2019 was a year of space milestones for a couple of other countries.

Nanobots, ape chauffeurs and flights to Pluto: the predictions for 2020 we got horribly wrong |
You’re late for work because you forgot to set the alarm clock embedded in your forearm. Rushing out of bed, you give your family members, located thousands of miles away, a quick virtual hug, and hop into the car — ordering your ape chauffeur to step on it.

History is littered with predictions and future projections. Many of these are given with supreme confidence, before they fade conveniently into insignificance as they whiz wide of the mark.
The Space Review: Giant leaps for humanity: Liberalism for a multiplanetary species
But this leads to a question of how best to colonize space. It’s a good thing that the Moon Treaty is dead letter, as much as it still lurks in the shadows (see “The Moon Treaty: failed international law or waiting in the shadows?” The Space Review, October 24, 2011). Property rights are a cornerstone of liberal democracy everywhere, and that will hold no less true in space.
On the other hand, settlement of the Moon and Mars will probably need to be ordered on some level. Any terraforming of Mars will need to be the effort of a body with coercive power, which would likely but not necessarily be a state. Like other public goods such as roads, I don’t think that the market for all of its potential can produce a coherent terraforming strategy.
When your next door neighbor is a glittering spaceport - The Verge
About 40 miles outside of the town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, I was looking for a spaceport in the middle of a desert. "I think maybe that's it?" I said, pointing at the blur of a building off in the distance. For the last half hour, we had scoured the landscape of dirt and cacti on either side of the lonely road for any sign of our destination, seeing nothing but a few large ranch houses set against the mountains looming on the horizon.
The blur resolved into just another desert home. Disappointed again. Just then, another distant building caught the Sun's light, and I knew without a doubt that we had found our target. As we approached, a domed hangar emerged from the desert floor, shaped like a cross between a giant glittery sting ray and a turtle.
What Tech Analysts Will Be Saying In 2029 When We Review The 2020s
There will be a major transformation in transportation. By the end of the decade, electric cars will be the norm and self-driving vehicles will be common. Uber and Lyft will employ robot cars instead of human drivers and — if Tesla is still in business — Elon Musk will have finally made good on his promise to turn Teslas into robo-taxis, though not necessarily the Teslas that are on the road today, as he promised in 2019.
I'm also hoping that we greatly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. The technology will be ready, so it's simply a matter of politics and will. One thing that might make that happen is that solar will be a lot cheaper, making it price competitive with fossil fuels.
