Pentagon's UFO footage comes at the perfect time - The Washington Post

They don't look like much of anything: fuzzy spheres floating through the sky, or giant Tic Tacs zooming above the sea. Their officially designated names are gibberish to most of us — FLIR, GIMBAL, GOFAST. They create more confusion than clarity.

The Defense Department said it uncorked the videos this week to dispel "any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos." Not a very helpful explanation, given that it seeks to quell a mile of speculation by giving an inch of information. The reason the government can't or won't say more may have to do with the risk of divulging secrets nestled deep within our country's aerospace skunkworks.

FBI Files: UFO expert J.

Back when supposed UFO sightings were becoming common, two people in an Air Force control tower reported seeing an object resembling "a lighted upended automobile" that the Air Force later said it determined was an aircraft.

But J. Allen Hynek, a Chicago-born astronomer and Northwestern University professor who studied UFO reports for the Air Force, wasn't convinced.

Thinking It Through: ‘We were all skeptics’ regarding UFOs - Opinion -

In recent months, the Department of Defense has released videos of “paranormal” (aka UFO) sightings on airplane pilots’ radar, most recently last month.

This is a remarkable turnaround as such phenomena have for years been written off by officialdom as questionable and unverifiable, to say the least. Put me down as one has always taken such reports with far less than a grain of salt.

Video 'shows three UFOs hovering over moon', claim conspiracy theorists | The Week UK

A video of three apparent UFOs hovering over the moon has caused a stir online, with a viewer saying it is "one of the best videos ever". A conspiracy theorist told the Daily Star: "If it is a fake it's one of the best I have seen, I can't see any flaws in the video myself although you do have the 'experts' in the comment section trying to point out flaws in the video but they are just pulling at straws..."

Robots have replaced university students in a virtual graduation ceremony. Coronavirus restrictions meant that Business Breakthrough University graduate students in Tokyo weren't allowed to have a traditional graduation ceremony, so they used robots to stand in their place. Digital tablets were attached to the heads, showing the faces of students who used a Zoom conference call to attend the graduation ceremony remotely.

SpaceX “Satellite Train” Viewed Over Northwest Iowa – KIWARadio.com

Northwest Iowa — Have you looked up at the night sky in recent weeks? Perhaps you’ve seen some unfamiliar lights? Well, rest assured, it’s not a UFO, but it is somewhat unusual. That is, for now.

The star-like lights all move together, and not in a squadron, but in a row, sequentially. So much so, in fact, that they have earned a nickname — “the satellite train.” Linda Burkhart, the Director at the Sanford Museum and Planetarium in Cherokee tells us about the strange lights.

Hey, Pentagon, don’t Earthlings have enough to worry about right now? I’m slaving over a hot stove each night and breaking into deranged song with the kids who no longer know what day it is. I’m scouring the dark web for yeast. I’m struggling as a Grade 8 teacher — were proportional fractions always this hard? — and sweeping the fireplace at 2 a.m. because I can’t sleep.
