Alien Technology Was Likely Here - In Our Solar System? | IE

In his forthcoming book, Professor Loeb makes a compelling case for why the object called 'Oumuamua (pronounced "oh moo ah moo ah") — an elongated, shaft-like object that sling-shotted through our solar system in 2017 — was more than just another space rock.

"It intercepted the orbital plane, within which all of the planets in our solar system revolve around the sun, on September 6, 2017," wrote Loeb. "But the object's extreme hyperbolic trajectory guaranteed it would only visit, not stay."

The solar system looked way different in its early days, because gravity

You know how you end up having to make at least one model of the solar system (for the science fair or otherwise) before the eighth grade? That arrangement of wire and foam spheres, colored in to look vaguely like the planets, isn't what it started out looking like.

Revealing the stuff that made up these meteorites gave away that the asteroids they broke off of — at least a hundred of them — formed in the near and far reaches of the solar system .

A Habitat at Ceres Could be the Gateway to the Outer Solar System - Universe Today

These issues demand innovative solutions; and over the years, several have been proposed! A good example is Dr. Pekka Janhunen ‘s concept for a megasatellite settlement in orbit around Ceres, the largest asteroid in the Main Belt. This settlement would provide artificial gravity for its residents while the local resources would allow for a closed-loop ecosystem to created inside – effectively bringing “terraforming” to a space settlement.

Dr. Janhunen – a theoretical physicist based in Helsinki, Finland – is no stranger to advanced concepts. In addition to being a research manager with the Finnish Meteorological Institute , he is a visiting professor with the University of Tatu and a senior technical advisor to Aurora Propulsion Technologies – where he is overseeing the commercial development of the Electric Solar Wind Sail (E-sail) concept he proposed back in 2006.

Two-step formation explains our solar system's dichotomy of planets - UPI.com

Jan. 21 (UPI) -- The solar system features a unique dichotomy of planets -- the inner solar system features smaller, drier bodies, while the planets found in the outer solar system are larger and wetter.

According to a study published Thursday in the journal Science, this divide is best explained by a two-step formation process. Advertisement

Over the last few decades, scientists have struggled to come to an agreement over the source of the solar system's planetary dichotomy.

Harvard physicist: ‘Serious possibility’ alien spacecraft visited solar system | KXAN

(NEXSTAR) – In a new interview, Harvard physicist Avi Loeb says there’s a “serious possibility” that an interstellar object that passed through Earth’ solar system could be an alien spacecraft.

In a new interview with Salon , Loeb defended his hypothesis, asserting that “perhaps ‘Oumuamua was artificial, definitely not made by us.”

“I would say, given everything we know, I would give a high likelihood that it could have been artificially made,” he said.

Local family feeling the burn after spending $100,000 with solar company promising big savings

ORLANDO, Fla. — A local family feels burned after buying 2 solar systems totaling $100,000.

Dilip Singh blames a solar contractor for a bad installation and for promising big power bill savings it can't deliver.

Singh says the salesperson from Empire Solar Group promised he would slash his power bill every month.

"They're designing the system so I wouldn't have to pay the electric company, except the taxes," Singh said he was told.

NASA Extends Exploration for Two Planetary Science Missions

NASA has extended both the Juno mission at Jupiter through September 2025 (left) and the InSight mission at Mars through December 2022.

The missions - Juno and InSight - have each increased our understanding of our solar system, as well as spurred new sets of diverse questions.

As NASA prepares to send astronauts back to the Moon and on to Mars, the agency's quest to seek answers about our solar system and beyond continues to inform those efforts and generate new discoveries. The agency has extended the missions of two spacecraft, following an external review of their scientific productivity.
