During his time in Las Vegas, Carlin and Mystery Wire's George Knapp talked several times, often delving into the topic of UFOs and aliens among other things such as politics and political correctness.
George Carlin used extraterrestrials a few times in his stand-up routines, sort of a set-up line to comment on the sad state of humanity, but he never took any public positions about UFOs or aliens.
Behind the scenes though, he had an abiding interest in the topics. The comedian and Knapp exchanged tapes, books, and information about UFOs.

CAMBRIDGE, MA ( WBZ ) -- A Harvard University professor is making the case that we are likely not alone in the universe. Astronomer Avi Loeb's new book "Extraterrestrial" examines the 2017 flyby of a space object that he believes was truly out of this world.
"At first people thought, well it must be a rock, just like the asteroids or comets that we have seen before within the solar system," Loeb told CBSN Boston's Paula Ebben. "But as they got more data on it, it looks very weird."

They don't look like much of anything: fuzzy spheres floating through the sky, or giant Tic Tacs zooming above the sea. Their officially designated names are gibberish to most of us — FLIR, GIMBAL, GOFAST. They create more confusion than clarity.

The Defense Department said it uncorked the videos this week to dispel "any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos." Not a very helpful explanation, given that it seeks to quell a mile of speculation by giving an inch of information. The reason the government can't or won't say more may have to do with the risk of divulging secrets nestled deep within our country's aerospace skunkworks.

On April 27, 2020, the U.S. Department of Defense issued a public statement authorising the release of three "UFO" videos taken by US Navy pilots.
The footage appears to depict airborne, heat-emitting objects with no visible wings, fuselage or exhaust, performing aerodynamically in ways that no known aircraft can achieve. The DoD doesn't use the terms "unidentified flying object" or "UFO" but does clearly state "the aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as 'unidentified'."

That's the tagline of a famous internet meme based on Giorgio Tsoukalos' History channel show, " Ancient Aliens ." But now it seems to be the official United States government line, too.
Just this past week came the latest slow-roll disclosure about UFOs and aliens in The New York Times , which, in the words of tech blog Gizmodo , "casually drops another story about how aliens are probably real."
There are even reports that the Pentagon has obtained vehicles or parts of vehicles "not made on this Earth," though former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was either misquoted confirming the story or walked back his comments to that effect later.
Why we must take UFO sightings by US Navy more seriously
T he official release of some previously leaked UFO videos taken by U.S. navy pilots has sparked renewed interest in the bigger questions. For sure those flying objects are unidentified, but how much attention should we earthlings devote to this issue? I am struck by the contrast between those who see this as an important question and those who think the whole thing will turn out to be an error or some kind of optical illusion.

A UFO — or unidentified flying objects — is an unknown object in the sky. When people talk about UFOs, they’re mostly talking about flying saucers that people believe come from other planets.
Back in May, The New York Times reported that Navy fighter pilots had strange encounters with mysterious flying objects eight times between 2013 and 2019. According to the reports, the fighter pilots and other military officials couldn’t explain where the flying objects had come from.
