Kepler-452b (sometimes nicknamed Earth 2.0 or Earth's Cousin) is an exoplanet orbiting the Sun-like ... [+] star Kepler-452 about 1, 400 light-years (430 pc) from Earth in the constellation Cygnus.
This summer marks nearly three decades since the discovery of 51 Pegasi b, the first known extrasolar planet to circle a sunlike star. Today, there are more than 5000 known planetary systems circling sunlike stars and as many as half of all sunlike stars are now thought to harbor planets.
Astronomers announce discovery of 'Super-Earth' orbiting near habitable zone of nearby star | Just ...
In a paper published in the journal Earth and Planetary Astrophysics , an international team of experts report the "discovery of a super-Earth planet on a 10.77-day orbit around the M4.5 dwarf Ross 508."
Ross 508 is located relatively close to Earth's cosmic neighborhood, being situated about 36 light-years away from our planet. The astronomers in the paper said that the planet in question, Ross 508 b, is located "near the inner edge of its star's habitable zone."

New Super-Earth discovered that's four times the mass of our planet – and it's near ...
A NEW 'Super Earth' planet has been uncovered orbiting near the 'Habitable Zone' of its star, according to researchers.
Japanese astronomers said the exoplanet , named Ross 508 b, is located approximately 36.5 light-years away from Earth.
The foreign world was uncovered via the Subaru telescope at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Hawaii.
NASA scientists to test James Webb Space Telescope on planet with lava-spewing clouds
Imagine a planet where a year lasts just 18 hours. This weird characteristic signifies that the planet is orbiting extremely close to its star and is tidally locked as a result.
With the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists are planning to study the surface and atmosphere of such planets. According to NASA, researchers have locked their sight on two exoplanets- the lava-covered 55 Cancri e and the airless LHS 3844 b.
It Would Not Be As Cool As You Think If Earth Had Two Moons
Looking up at the stars on a clear night, one unmissable sight is Earth's beloved moon . And in this case, the fact Earth only has one moon is exceptional, given the fact that it is the only planet in the solar system without multiple moons orbiting it, according to NASA .
The most dramatic change if the Earth had two moons would be the effect on Earth's tides and, therefore, on the planet's shorelines. Our present singular moon has the largest impact on Earth's tides, due to the gravitational tugging on the Earth as the moon orbits the planet, according to NASA .
