A new study published in the International Journal of Astrobiology earlier this year suggests alien civilizations could potentially attach themselves to any number of the 70 or so free floating planets in the Milky Way as they migrate throughout the galaxy.
"Almost 10 years ago, when reading about discoveries of free-floating planets, I thought of a hypothetical scenario of a free-floating planet approaching the Solar System," physicist Irina Romanovskaya told Vice's Motherboard in support of the study. "There are no traffic lights in the Galaxy.

And even that finding was an accidental discovery, according to Patrick Irwin, a planetary physicist at Oxford University and the lead author of the study.
Scientists already knew that Neptune and Uranus get their general bluish appearance from the methane in their atmosphere, which absorbs incoming sunlight's red hues, leaving blues and greens for our eyes to see.
