WIVT/WBNG – The Kopernik Observatory and Science Center is inviting the public out for a night of gazing at planets.
The doors open at 8 p.m, and if the skies are clear, the domes will be open to view the the night sky through Kopernik’s telescope both before and after the program.

What Does Your Sun Sign Mean In Astrology?
Welcome to NYLON's planetary explainer series, in which astrologer David Odyssey helps you get to know your chart and its key players, one planet at a time.
In a cosmos of endless tumult, one constant remains: the sun. Though astrology works on a geocentric presumption that the planets revolve around the earth, the real star of the saga will always be Sol.
Exoplanets: As the Data Streams Back… the Picture Comes In | Mind Matters
Most likely, such a planet does exist, but in the relatively nascent field of exoplanet research, no one has yet been able to find it. That is not for lack of trying.
A team led by Jian Ge at the Shanghai Astronomical Institute thinks that, using their method — Earth 2.0 Telescope, or ET — they can locate at least 17 such planets. Overall, they hope to find 30,000 new exoplanets, including 5,000 rocky ones like Earth.
Solar Park Powering Astronomical Observatory In Chile's Atacama Desert - CleanTechnica
A recent story at PV Magazine shares the story of an observatory in Chile powered by solar power.
A solar plant with a capacity of 9 megawatts has now been completed at the European Southern Observatory’s Paranal Observatory. The PV installation is also intended to power the world’s largest telescope, which is currently being built at the site.

Why Does It Rain Diamonds On Neptune And Uranus?
Two ice giants in our solar system experience diamond rain. Nope, we are not making this up. On Neptune and Uranus, it rains diamonds!
While this is a striking reminder of how ordinary diamonds are in the greater scheme of this universe, it also sheds light on how elusive most terrains remain for humanity.
The smallest change to Neptune's orbit could destabilize our solar system - BGR
Researchers at the University of Toronto in Canada have created simulations to observe how changes to a planet’s orbit could cause a chain reaction throughout the solar system. The researchers published their findings on the preprint server arXiv .
You probably already know that gravity can greatly influence cosmic objects as they make their way through space. We see this constantly in how the Sun’s gravity causes planets to orbit it. And even how it pulls comets from the edge of our solar system inward.
The surprisingly simple technique that can turn deserts green - KAKE
It's a principle allegedly coined by the late Kelly Johnson, one of the world's greatest aircraft designers, who once engineered Cold War spy planes. He believed a few tools should be able to fix even the most complex machines.
The simplest approach is usually the best, whether you're talking about writing a news story, building an airplane or, in the case of one of this week's discoveries, turning deserts green.
