Thousands of Stars View Earth as a Transiting Exoplanet - Eos

The Milky Way is home to billions of stars and probably an even larger number of planets . To search for these planets, scientists watch for minute, but periodic, dips in a star's light, the telltale signature of a planet passing in front of its host star.

Lisa Kaltenegger and Jackie Faherty calculated the number of stars whose past, present, or future vantage points in space afford a look at Earth passing in front of the Sun.
