US Army recruits sworn in by NASA astronaut in orbit

"It's really a great honor for me to administer the oaths of enlistment today from this magnificent spaceship," U.S. astronaut Andrew Morgan told the recruits from the International Space Station on Wednesday.

More than 1,000 recruits took part in the swearing-in ceremony from 150 locations across the country.
Now, the hard work begins. But the recruits' mission is off and running after taking part in the historic ceremony.
OneWeb launches 34 internet satellites into orbit to boost broadband megaconstellation | Space
A Soyuz rocket carrying 34 of OneWeb's broadband satellites lifted off today (Feb. 6) from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, rising off the pad at 4:42 p.m. EST (2142 GMT; 2:42 a.m. on Feb. 7 local time).
The Soyuz — which is operated by French company Arianespace — deployed all 34 spacecraft as planned by 3 hours and 45 minutes after launch, at an altitude of 280 miles (450 kilometers). The 325-lb. (147 kilograms) satellites will then make their own way to their operational orbit, which lies about 745 miles (1,200 km) above Earth.

Located about 1,000 light years from Earth, the planet, known as NGTS-10b, was discovered by the Next-Generation Transit Survey based at the Paranal Observatory in Chile. The survey is intended to discover exoplanets down to the size of Neptune by studying how a host star’s light dims slightly as a planet moves in front of its disc – transits – as viewed from Earth.
"We're excited to announce the discovery of NGTS-10b, an extremely short period Jupiter-sized planet orbiting a star not too dissimilar from our Sun,” said James McCormac of the University of Warwick Department of Physics and lead author of a paper in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society .
SpaceX Aims to Launch Private Citizens into Super High Orbit
American technology company SpaceX says it plans to launch as many as four private citizens into a higher orbit than ever before.
SpaceX is working with U.S.-based Space Adventures Inc. to offer the space flights, the two companies recently announced. No dates or costs for the flights were announced.
Space Adventures has already helped send seven space tourists to the International Space Station, or ISS, aboard Russian Soyuz rockets.

U.S. Space Fence | How Do We Track Satellites in Earth's Orbit?
The U.S. Space Force will turn on a new and improved radar system as early as this month that's designed to track small objects in space. The “Space Fence” is built on a remote island in the South Pacific and will allow the military to keep an eye on thousands of objects orbiting the Earth, up to 22,000 miles from the surface of the planet.
The Space Fence, located on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific, will also help the military monitor space junk, keep track of enemy satellites, and help prevent satellites from colliding with one another. NASA estimates that up to a half million such objects with a diameter between 0.4 and four inches are circling the Earth, at a speed of 22,000 miles an hour.
