"In this paper, we have presented the TOI-836 system and the discovery of its two planets, TOI-836 b and TOI-836 c.
The inner planet TOI-836 b has a radius of about 1.7 Earth radii and is around 4.5 times more massive than the Earth, which yields a density at a level of 5.02 g/cm 3 .
Super-Earths are planets more massive than Earth but not exceeding the mass of Neptune.
Carbon dioxide detected around alien world for first time | Science | AAAS
Astronomers have found carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) in the atmosphere of a Saturn-size planet 700 light-years away—the first unambiguous detection of the gas in a planet beyond the Solar System. The discovery, made by the James Webb Space Telescope , provides clues to how the planet formed.
Webb is “ushering in this new era of the atmospheric science of exoplanets,” says Nikku Madhusudhan of the University of Cambridge, who was not involved in the study.
Carbon Monoxide is Plentiful in Nebulae, but Then Disappears When Planets Form.
Protoplanetary disks—those nurseries around young stars where planets form—are filled with gas and dust. In particular, many show a lot of carbon monoxide gas. It’s a handy “tracer” to estimate the mass of a cloud, its composition, and even its temperature.
This has been a problem for astronomers over the last decade or so. Something hasn’t been adding up when it comes to carbon monoxide observations in protoplanetary disks , according to Diana Powell, a NASA Hubble Fellow at the Center for Astrophysics-Harvard & Smithsonian.

Key facts: Using observations from NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), backed up by ground-based telescopes, an international team led by the University of Montreal announced the discovery of a “super-Earth” – a planet that is potentially rocky like ...
James Webb Spots "Clear Evidence" of CO2 in the Atmosphere of an Exoplanet
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has made the first "clear detection" of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of a planet beyond our solar system, according to NASA .
But it is a potentially significant discovery that could give us invaluable insight into the evolution of exoplanets, and possibly spot signs of the gas in other rocky Earth-like planets as well. And, at the end of the day, it's just another cool finding from the James Webb.
Skywatch: Cumbria sky watchers can see the planets if they stay up late | The Westmorland Gazette
This is a great time for planet-spotting - if you don't have huge fells or tall trees on your skyline, and don't mind staying up late.
You won't need a telescope to see any of these planets, they're all clearly visible to the naked eye.
If you go out at midnight on the next clear night and look to the south east you'll see a very bright star low in the sky in that direction.
Saturn is the king of the night in a telescope - Post Bulletin | Rochester Minnesota news, ...
Since 1989, there have been thousands of confirmed planets orbiting other stars just in our immediate vicinity of the Milky Way. Thousands of other planets haven't been officially confirmed.
Saturn is hands down my absolute favorite telescope target. Even with a small telescope, you can see Saturn's ring system. Now that I'm blessed to own large telescopes, Saturn is over the top.
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope Sees Carbon Dioxide in an Exoplanet Atmosphere - CNET
Over the past few decades, NASA's space telescopes discovered thousands of new planets located beyond our solar system.
"Detecting such a clear signal of carbon dioxide on WASP-39 b bodes well for the detection of atmospheres on smaller, terrestrial-sized planets," said Natalie Batalha, of the University of California, Santa Cruz, who leads the team.
