A fleet of lights recorded off North Carolina’s Outer Banks has ignited a debate about whether they are honest-to-goodness UFOs or just part of a mysterious military exercise.
William Guy posted a 31-second video Sept. 28 on YouTube, showing what appears to be 14 glowing orbs over the water. He refers to it as a “ real UFO sighting .”
“Anybody tell me what that is?” Guy says in the video. “We’re in the middle of the ocean, on a ferry, nothing around. Look. Nothing around. No land, no nothing.”

Almost 2 million people signed up on Facebook to storm Area 51 on Friday, and another 1.5 million said they were "interested" (whatever that means). Amid warnings from the US government, the college student who created the event changed it to a music festival.
About 75 people showed up to the police-enforced Area 51 boundary early Friday, and a total of about 1,500 actually traveled to the area.
Area 51 is a high-security Air Force base in Nevada, but its secretive nature has given rise to various conspiracy theories about extraterrestrials over the years. The belief that evidence of alien visitors has been hidden from the American public extends beyond Area 51, though: It can be traced back over 70 years, to Roswell, New Mexico.

There's some irony in Arnu's anti-Storm stance. After all, on Dreamland Resort, Arnu has spent 20 years chronicling his Area 51 adventures and discoveries, creating probably the world's most thorough public repository of Dreamland documentation and providing a place for other investigators to congregate. He created the site because he wanted to share Area 51 with the whole planet. Area 51 is where several super-secret, very cool aviation projects originated.

The flummoxed person on the radio was simply an airline pilot who could not explain what she saw in the sky over Ireland.
The British Airways pilot was operating Flight BA94 from Montreal on Friday when she contacted the nearest air traffic control tower to inquire whether there were any military exercises over the Atlantic Ocean to which she hadn't been alerted, according to the Irish Examiner .
When controllers told her that the skies were clear, she politely set them straight. She said she and her crew saw bright lights streaking through the air at phenomenal speeds — twice the speed of sound.

More than a million people have RSVP'd to an event on Facebook, threatening to storm the top-secret base in Nevada, which some believe is home to aliens.
Thousands have commented on the page, which reads: "We can move faster than their bullets. Let's see them aliens."
Facebook user Jackson Barnes wrote on the event page: "Hello US government, this is a joke, and I do not actually intend to go ahead with this plan".
"I just thought it would be funny and get me some thumbsy uppies on the Internet. I'm not responsible if people decide to actually storm area 51."
